Ivanov continues with manipulations and buying time to prolong or even deepen the crisis in the country. In his speech at 22h (April 27, 2017), he called for a leadership meeting and stated that anyone who violated the Constitution must face consequences.
Ivanov made the statement in the wake of violent acts in and around the Parliament in which the parliamentary majority finally decided to get out of the political deadlock, only to be attacked by an organized mob thugs.
CIVIL – Center for Freedom strongly condemns the violence, for which exactly Ivanov is to blame, as well as the power-holders in the party whose interests he defends, most of whom are suspected of serious crimes in the investigations of the Special Public Prosecutor.
A head of state is rather expected to condemn the violence and to call for urgent and decisive action by the authorities to impose law and order, not to blame all political parties for what happens tonight.
Because of the continuous violation of the Constitution and open obstruction of the political process for overcoming the political crisis, blocking parliamentary work, and because of the usurpation of the office of President of the Republic of Macedonia, we urge Ivanov to resign immediately, and we urge the institutions to initiate emergency procedures for determining Ivanov’s responsibility before the law.
