CIVIL – Center for Freedom will present the awards for the second cycle of the “Be a citizen journalist” competition on March 22, Tuesday, beginning at 12.00 pm at the City Park Hotel.
The materials that were received within this cycle were assessed by CIVIL’s commission on Wednesday, March 16. The names of the winners will be announced on the day of presenting the awards.
The competition includes most successful video-recordings and photos on all types of violations of human rights, abuses and pressures in the electoral context.
Every month in the following four months, the five most successful materials will be rewarded with vouchers for the purchase of photo/video and computer equipment. The highest monthly prize is a voucher equivalent to 110 USD.
Everyone with a smartphone, camera or camcorder of any kind, can be a citizen journalist and can get involved in the project “Be a citizen journalist”.
CIVIL encourages all citizens to actively participate through research and media activities in the development of citizen journalism and in warning on all irregularities that impact the political situation, by reporting threats, blackmail, political corruption, bribing of the electorate, misuse of public resources and of the administration.
Through texts, video, photo and audio materials, you will contribute in our joint effort to strengthen the public awareness and formulate public demands for free elections, based on the evidence of your research conducted through online activism, field work, media and public events.

The materials you will be sending must be accompanied with a detailed description on the time, place, course of event and participants in the event. The authors, as well as the persons included in the materials may remain anonymous, depending on the agreement made with the author and the legislation regulating this type of production and publishing.
