In the morning editions of Albanian media in the region, today, the attention is focused on the message of the “Anonymous” hacker group to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, with the accusation that he is Putin’s marionette, and in Albania the government package of 159 million euros ahead of the elections is being problematized. These are some of the topics that the editorial office of CIVIL Media has selected for today’s edition of AL-PRESS.
BOTA SOT: The message of “Anonymous” against Vucic and in defense of Kosovo resonates in international media
“The ‘Anonymous’ hacker group accuses Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic of behaving like ‘Putin’s marionette’, while Serbia encourages the conflict with Kosovo, an action that Russia hopes can distance the West from Ukraine.
“Russia is trying to open a new front in Europe in order to distract the attention of the West”, said Ivana Stradner, advisor in the Barish Center for Defense of Democracies for Media Integrity for Fox News Digital, reported the Kosovo daily Bota Sot.
BALKAN WEB: A “Big package” or an “election pill”, Albanian government allocates 159 million euros ahead of elections
At its session on December 12, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania adopted dozens of decisions for allocation of funds to nine municipalities, for the process of reconstruction from the earthquake in 2019 and for public investments. From around the 10 billion leks (89 million euros) allocated through unconditioned transfers, 6.6 billion are intended for the Municipality of Tirana, defined as individual grants, reconstructions or repairs of buildings, schools, tertiary reconstructions and so on, is said in the analysis of BIRN, part of which was conveyed by BalkanWeb.
Called the “Big package”, Prime Minister Edi Rama argued that the allocation of this fund was a measure for mitigating the price inflation. Leader of the opposition Sali Berisha sees this package differently, who attacked the initiative as being an “election pill”.
GAZETA EXPRESS: KFORtoday will remove the damaged trucks from the barricades, the Mitrovica – Jarinje road will be closed to traffic for two hours
“The Kosovo police announced that today the units of KFOR will remove the damaged trucks that had been located at the place called “Potokot na Zaze”, reports Gazeta Express.
Due to this reason, the police informs that from this morning one lane will be closed for traffic, while the road will be completely closed to traffic for two hours until noon in the direction Mitrovica – Jarinje.
JAVA NEWS: Can the elections on May 14 bring changes?
“The local elections on May 14 are the most important political event not only in the year, but also in the long run until the parliamentary elections in 2005.
The majority in these elections comes with a seemingly absurd logic. The Socialist Party, on May 14, will not compete on how much the municipality will win, but how much it will not lose. Following the political scandal with the boycott on June 30, 2019, the SP gave all the municipalities in the country. Based on this, the weight, importance, vision, idea, but also the ball is ultimately in the other hand”, an excerpt of the analysis “Will the elections on the 14th bring changes”, by Uli Pata, published in the Albanian media outlet Java News.
NISTORI: Who is financing the Kosovo media?
“News organizations and individual news aggregators should be forced to identify themselves as such.
An advocacy movement or pressure group presenting themselves as media should be forbidden by law. The right of citizens to seek legal action for defamation should be prescribed by law, and if found guilty, the organization or individual should be held accountable”, an excerpt from the article “Who is financing the Kosovo media”, by Vudi Hhymshiti, published in Nistori.
