President Stevo Pendarovski met with the Ambassador of Austria to North Macedonia, Georg Woutsas, on Thursday to discuss current events in both countries.
According to the press release from the presidential office, President Pendarovski noted that North Macedonia and Austria have been building friendly partnership relations in continuity, adding tha Austria is one of the country’s most important economic and trade partners.
At the meeting, Pendarovski stressed the importance of Austria’s support for North Macedonia’s aspirations for EU membership. He also highlighted the importance of holding an intergovernmental conference soon to mark the formal start of accession negotiations.
Discussing the Covid-19 pandemic, North Macedonia’s head of state thanked the Austrian Ambassador for Austria’s efforts to distribute the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines from the European Union to Western Balkan countries, including North Macedonia, which should receive 119,000 doses of the vaccine by the end of August.
President Pendarovski thanked Austria for the solidarity, the release adds, and for the EU’s and Austria’s significant contribution to the Western Balkans’ fight against the pandemic.
