Aleksandar Novakoski, lawyer, former President of the SEC and member of CIVIL’s Expert Board, at the panel discussion in the press center of CIVIL’s monitoring team, after the election day was over, said that he was satisfied from the course of the voting and complimented the State Election Commission on the manner of implementing the local elections. However, Novakoski did stress that it is primarily the citizens who are most credited for this.
“The most important thing is the successful reaction of the state, which seriously appealed for there to be no intimidation of citizens in relation to their employment or loss of jobs. It is important that they all felt that they could vote freely, without being followed on how they would vote. The elections, however, are still not over. I hope they will end as the first round did, because we have bad experiences with small incidents in some municipalities, which in the end show a different picture of the elections”, outlined Novakoski at the panel discussion in assessing yesterday’s election day.
