NEWS OF THE DAY: Pendarovski does not plan to convene a leaders meeting

The President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, does not plan to convene a leaders meeting, informs the Cabinet of the State President for MIA.

Prime Minister and SDSM President Zoran Zaev today announced a leaders meeting by the end of the year. He said that he expects President Stevo Pendarovski to convene it, but that if that does not happen, then he would “pull” the initiative.

VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski, on the other hand, announced that his party will not participate if the leaders meeting is organized by Pendarovski.

FLASH NEWS

With the purpose of avoiding the spread of the coronavirus and a growing number of newly infected patients ahead of the holidays, the Commission for Infectious Diseases today will recommend to the Government new restrictive measures for the period December 18 to January 21, among which for hospitality facilities to close at 6.00 pm instead of 9.00 pm as was until now.

In the past 24 hours it has been reported that a total of 826 positive and suspected patients to coronavirus are being treated in the covid-centers in the hospitals across the country.

The government decided to reallocate part of the funds for one-time assistance for 7.500 medical workers, who in performing their work are directly in contact with coronavirus infected persons.

The rate of poor citizens in the country in 2019 was 21, 6 percent, which is 0.3 percent lower compared to 2018, show the latest statistical data.

A working group has been formed from the government for revising the discretionary powers of officials in the direction of adopting a set of amendments to laws with which the discretionary rights will be eliminated or limited wherever they are not necessary. The group has already submitted to Deputy Prime Minister in charge of fight against corruption and crime Ljupco Nikolovski several draft amendments to the respective laws.
