Civil continues with its struggle for justice and freedom for the journalist Tomislav Kezarovski. This is an almost two years long Golgotha for a journalist who has conscientiously, professionally and honestly doing his job and delivered the truth in public. His “sins” are the courage and professionalism – to expose the dirty games of the power structures and the institutions.
More than symptomatic is that his spectacular arrest was based on charges about an article written in 2008, whilst being in the midst of an investigation on the suspicious death of the owner and editor of the weekly Fokus, Nikola Mladenov. The article upon which Kezarovski is arrested, prosecuted and imprisoned is about a supposedly protected witness, whose status in the verdict is mysteriously changed into an endangered witness, while being none of both.
The troubles of the journalist Kezarovski and the suffering of his family are also ours! Imprisonment of our fellow citizen and colleague is imprisonment of all of us.
Therefore, we shout out: We are Kezarovski! Freedom for Kezarovski!
We join the protest against the imprisonment of the journalist Kezarovski. We appeal to all our members, supporters and contributors, to all citizens, journalists, media workers and activists – to take part in the protest tomorrow at 12 h, inn front of the Court of Appeals in Skopje.
The struggle for freedom of Kezarovski is our personal protest in defense of freedom of expression and media freedoms. We strongly condemn the practice of the Macedonian judiciary in this and in many other cases. This kind of judiciary is heavily violating human rights and freedoms, and fundamental principles of democracy.
We are Kezarovski! Freedom for Kezarovski!
