EU- Western Balkans Ministerial Forum on Justice and Home Affairs in Skopje
The Republic of North Macedonia today and tomorrow is hosting the “EU- Western Balkans Ministerial Forum on Justice and Home Affairs”, which is held in the Parliament and organized under the Finnish Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
As announced by the MOI, EU member states will be represented by the Ministers of Justice and of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Finland, senior representatives of the Federal Republic of Germany and Republic of Croatia, relevant EU Commissioner for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality, Vera Jourova and Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship, Dimitris Avramopoulos, as well as other representatives of European institutions.
Over 200 complaints for violation of child rights
The number of complaints for violation of child rights has significantly increased. So far, more than 200 complaints have reached the Office of the Ombudsman, mostly for looking after children, for family rights, personal contacts with a parent, relative, right to alimony, guardianship. The Ombudsman has continuously urged and demanded for everyone involved in the process of childcare to take greater responsibility, but so far there have been no greater significant changes.
Council of Ambassadors demands postponement of elections, in order for the reforms needed for the EU to continue
The Association of international policy “Council of Ambassadors” thanks European leaders and commissioners of European Union institutions for their real and moral political support for the Republic of North Macedonia in its long and demanding path towards EU membership. This support was particularly important after the decision of the European Council in October not to set a date for start of negotiations with the country, is stated by the “Council of Ambassadors”.
In that context, they invite the leaders of political parties represented in the Parliament, and according to the weight of their political responsibility, to replace their narrow-party interests with interests of the states as soon as possible and to move the decision for holding early parliamentary elections in the beginning of summer or for the elections to be held in their regular term at the end of 2020.
