The President of Ukraine President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met Wednesday in Kiev with the Prime Ministers of Albania and Montenegro, Edi Rama and Dritan Abazovic, while the Prime Minister of North Macedonia Dimitar Kovachevski joined the meeting via a video link, transmits news agency MIA.
Zelensky told the Telegram that Albania, North Macedonia and Montenegro support Ukraine’s candidacy for EU membership.
“We agree that our countries are not competitors on this European path, but only complement and strengthen each other’s capabilities,” the President of Ukraine said.
Three leaders of the Western Balkan countries, that are NATO member states, adopted a joint statement in support of granting Ukraine the status of a candidate for EU membership.
The statement said that at the next EU Summit it is necessary to make politically courageous decisions for all our countries on the European path to peace, stability and prosperity.
“Today, together with Edi Rama and Dimitar Kovachevski, we adopted a joint statement in which we support Ukraine to receive EU candidate status. The statement says that the next EU Summit should bring politically courageous decisions for all our countries on the European path to peace, stability and prosperity,” Abazovic wrote on Facebook.
