SOTIR GABELOSKI
The public appearances, the displayed heroism and the robustness that Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine, is showing, is becoming an example for many young and future politicians. If young politicians to be from Europe took examples and tried to imitate Western leaders, Barack Obama, Angela Merkel, or Vladimir Putin, today Zelensky is becoming a role that can structure the future of many young people involved in politics.
The last address of the Ukrainian President prompted strong emotions, while the messages sent out brought all members of parliament to rise on their feet. The last statement on the Russian attack against health institutions is yet another powerful message sent out by Zelensky, through which he again articulates his demands to the NATO alliance.
Volodymyr Zelensky, thanks to his rhetorical and oratory skills, presented all these events in a way that achieves several goals:
- Puts pressure on NATO and the West in general
- “Collects” empathy from the whole world
- Portrays Russia in a truthful manner – as an occupier
- Inspires courage, fight and heroism
- Encourages unity in Europe
As he himself says in his address before the British Parliament, the Ukrainian people have gone from ordinary people to people of heroes, and the strong messages they send inspire awe everywhere.
Volodymyr Zelensky is probably greatly helped by his acting abilities from his past, and of course, his oratory abilities which he has improved through his presence on TV screens for years back. But, the courage and dignity that he is showing speak that this is a mature politician who knows how to lead his fellow citizens in moments of life or death.
Zelensky is slowly becoming a new “role model”, a new example in European politics. He sets new standards and becomes unique in the sense that Eastern Europe produces politicians as an example that many leaders in the future will follow.
