We’re Macedonians who speak Macedonian and we’re a member of NATO. We’ll be Macedonians who speak Macedonian and we will be a member of the EU. Patriotism has nothing to do with staying stuck in the past and closing doors to the future, Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said in an interview for Kanal 77 radio.
“Patriotism in politics means to have two Greek prime ministers affirm the existence of the Macedonian language and the Macedonian nation,” PM Zaev said.
“What are the opposition leaders defending by organizing these recent protests? Didn’t we already lose our identity by signing the Prespa Agreement, as they had said?
“It’s impossible to reach a consensus with people who are lying that the Netherlands and Denmark have blocked the adoption of the negotiations framework. Highest institutions from these countries denied the [opposition’s] claims.
“Lying is not patriotism,” Zaev noted.
