Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said Monday he expected an information from China in the coming days on when the shipment of COVID-19 vaccines will begin, adding that everything has been done in terms of the necessary procedures to make sure the shots arrive in the country as soon as possible.
Regarding the advance payment for the Chinese vaccines, he said it was withdrawn because a confirmation from the Chinese Foreign Ministry is pending.
“The advance payment was part of the procedure. The money is on the same account of the Health Ministry. Today I expect a positive information on the procedure that is ongoing. The shipment of vaccines to arrive in North Macedonia should be confirmed in a matter of days,” PM Zaev told reporters in Skopje.
He noted that a second procedure has been launched to procure additional 200,000 doses of the Chine vaccine, saying that the documentation for the procurement of Russia’s Sputnik vaccine is formalized.
