Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said Tuesday he has already met with Mendiuh Thaci of DPA and Bilal Kasami of BESA, and is set to do the same with DUI’s Ali Ahmeti regarding the possible coalitions for the coming local elections.
PM Zaev says coalitions are logical and would probably take up 50 percent of municipalities in the first round of the elections, followed by 25-30 percent in the runoff.
“We have all reaffirmed to help each other since we are a coalition at a central level, so it would be nice to reflect this locally. We will take part in coalitions in 50 percent of municipalities in the first round, followed by 25-30 percent in the runoff, but also through post-election coalitions,” Zaev told reporters.
According to him, local elections differ from the parliamentary polls and much depends on the candidates.
Asked who SDSM would support in Tetovo – BESA or DUI – the PM said it would be best if all parties have candidates in the first round and then provide support to the coalition party that advances to the runoff.
