NEWS OF THE DAY: Zaev receives the mandate, has 20 days to form a new government
SDSM leader Zoran Zaev received the mandate to form a new government from President Stevo Pendarovski.
“Based on Article 84, in accordance to Article 90 of the Constitution and the proposal of the coalition ‘We Can’, I hand the mandate to SDSM President and MP Zoran Zaev to form a new government”, said Pendarovski.
“It is an honour and a responsibility as leader of SDSM and the coalition ‘We Can’, which won the most seats in Parliament, today to have been entrusted by President Pendarovski the mandate to form a new, political, European, democratic and responsible government with institutions even better equipped to serve the citizens. From this moment, within 20 days, we have a task to create a program and cadre to which the Parliament will give a mandate to serve the citizens,” said Zaev.
Mickoski demanded a meeting with Pendarovski, after which he announced that VMRO-DPMNE is freezing relations with the President
Mickoski with the party parliamentary group this afternoon at 3.30 pm demanded and received a meeting with Pendarovski at the Villa Vodno, where they demanded that he states the arguments and evidence based on which he has handed the mandate to SDSM leader Zoran Zaev to form a new government.
“After what happened today, and that being the unconstitutional handing of a mandate to an MP, who has not proved a majority within the framework of the Parliament, we had a meeting with President Stevo Pendarovski. After a discussion of an hour and a half, we concluded that today Zoran Zaev had expressed assurance that he would work on creating a parliamentary majority”, stated Mickoski following the meeting with Pendarovski.
“At the same time, as the Electoral Code was changing a day before the start of the election campaign, which favoured SDSM, today Pendarovski did the same by handing the mandate to a person that currently has no parliamentary majority. VMRO-DPMNE, as of today, is freezing relations and communication with Stevo Pendarovski and will reassess the policies he will lead in relation to his Office. Unfortunately, institutions have been privatized and captured for personal and party interest”, said Mickoski.
VMRO-DPMNE MPs who were in front of Villa Vodno did not want to reply to the questions from the TV21 team.
“They briefly referred us to wait for the party statement”, writes TV21.
CIVIL NEWS
CIVIL’s call to its members, supporters, collaborators and all interested citizens to take part in the new action “Citizens forum for participation in government policy making”, has reached many citizens, activists and supporters of the organization. We have already received on our emails a large number of messages with articulated demands for the future government, which are already being published on CIVIL’s media platform.
Aleksandar Filipovic, activist and collaborator of CIVIL, writes:
“Regardless of who will succeed to form a government, I expect greater transparency, equal opportunities for all and strengthening of the civic concept.
Since in the past we have encountered many cases of socially vulnerable categories, for which for some of those cases the assistance that they are entitled to by law was not provided, or they were brought to the point of having to publically go out and say that the state, that is, the institutions do not use any of their capacities and activities, despite the persistence of those affected. I personally expect from the new government to take account of this”.

CIVIL condemns the hate speech shown in the statement of the Director of the Delcevo Health Center, Maria Gligorovska, in which she discloses that one patient is, as she says, from the “Roma population”.
