SDSM leader Zoran Zaev met Monday in Berlin with Germany’s Social Democratic Party (SPD) leader Norbert Walter-Borjans, discussing the COVID-19 pandemic, North Macedonia’s EU integration process and bilateral cooperation.
Walter-Borjans reaffirmed Germany’s commitment for acceleration of North Macedonia’s EU integration process and congratulated Zaev on the Human Rights Award presented by the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung.
Zaev thanked Germany for its strong and unconditional support to North Macedonia’s Euro-integration process, expressing belief over its continuation and enhancement, SDSM said in a press release.
“North Macedonia is proud to have Germany as its ally and supporter, and SDSM is proud to have SPD as its partner and friend. Such cooperation should strengthen especially amid this period of the coronavirus pandemic, which has taught us on the importance of solidarity and cooperation at all levels,” said Zaev.
SPD is a member of the German ruling coalition alongside the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) of Chancellor Angela Merkel.
