Prime Minister Zoran Zaev expects the new government of Bulgaria to be formed in April, so talks can continue on finding a solution acceptable to both sides because that’s in the interest of the entire Western Balkans, the EU, and definitely in the interest of the Bulgarian people.
In response to a reporter’s question at Thursday’s press conference, about expectations after the formation of a new government in Bulgaria and whether Bulgaria’s veto on North Macedonia’s EU membership would be lifted, Zaev said he was convinced that a solution will be found, reiterating that the Macedonian identity and the Macedonian language are non-negotiable.
The PM pointed out that Bulgaria continuously supports the European integration of both North Macedonia and the entire Western Balkans.
“The important thing is what history we write today, what we leave behind for future generations,” said Zaev.
