Prime Minister Zoran Zaev and the leader of opposition party VMRO DPMNE Hristijan Mickoski, tonight in the TV duel on Kanal 5, called for mass vaccination of the population.
– Now there are enough vaccines and we should all encourage mass vaccination, certainly among citizens who would like to do so and surely to protect the collective health – that is a responsible policy. Let’s be more responsible, at least we the politicians to encourage greater responsibility, because that is the only way to overcome this curse of a pandemic that unfortunately has took many human lives, and only this way to return to normal, stressed Zaev.
According to him, the Government and the competent authorities are doing all they can with the capacities that exist in the country to manage the Covid crisis. Thanks to the doctors and the entire health system, said Zaev, we have saved thousands of lives.
– What we are doing the whole world is doing, we are doing the same. We consult with everyone, what new methods there are, the newest therapies have always been provided, funds were not spared, accusations for provisions are out of mind, we procured inexpensive vaccines, we took all possible steps to find vaccines as soon as possible, to protect the health workers…, said Zaev adding that the reason for the greatest part of those who died is that they had had at least two chronic diseases.
The Prime Minister said that they had always listened to the experts in regards to the measures. He added that this summer the measures were relaxed (specifically regarding weddings), because the number of newly diagnosed was very small. He said that he supports measures that will encourage greater vaccination of the population.
According to President of VMRO-DPMNE Mickoski, we are at the bottom when it comes to dealing with the crisis, and at the top with people who have lost their lives. He pointed out that the Government has accepted measures they have proposed, but with a delay.
– When we expressed and offered measures, they accepted those same measures with a delay when tens of citizens would have lost their lives, said Mickoski, adding that they had warned that the Delta variant of the virus would come in the country and that there would be a new wave.
Unfortunately, at that moment, as he said, the authorities were turning a deaf ear. He stressed that he is shocked that the blame is transferred to the citizens.
– In a region where people have a similar mentality, for you to be leading with a two, three times higher mortality, what is the mentality of the people in Macedonia any different than the people in Albania, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina…, says Mickoski.
He called on everyone who wants to be immunized by vaccination, and all others, as he said, have their own right to their body and their life. He said that he is to receive the second dose of the vaccine on Wednesday.
