Prime Minister Zoran Zaev met Wednesday with U.S. Ambassador to North Macedonia Kate Byrnes, discussing the recently adopted Government’s Plan to fight corruption.
PM Zaev pointed out that the Government is fully committed to implementing the Plan as a systematically organized process to strengthen capacities and synchronize activities of the institutions for an uncompromising fight against corruption, nepotism, conflict of interest, and abuse of office, while Ambassador Byrnes greatly welcomed such efforts, the Government said in a press release.
The two also discussed reforms as part of the “Europe at Home” Agenda, which, in addition to specific steps in the fight against corruption, includes measures to provide European standards in terms of electoral reforms, judiciary, fundamental human rights, media reform, economic governance, public administration reform, as well as environmental and climate reforms.
