There are almost no major construction projects abroad that the construction companies from North Macedonia are taking part in, and the situation has been gradually worsening with the years. The statistical data shows modest number of signed and completed contracts in the foreign markets.
In 2020, the completed construction operations abroad by the companies from North Macedonia ammounted to only €2.6 million. This is 42.7% less compared to the previous year. Most of the construction operations that were completed last year were done in Germany in the amount of approximately €1.5 million.
Now the former Yugoslavian market is almost completely lost for the Macedonian companies. In Kosovo last year, the construction works that were completed were in the amount of around €150.000, and in Serbia, Macedonian construction workers have conducted construction projects in the amount of €5.000. Even in Bosnia-Herzegovina, the completed construction activities in 2020 were decreased to approximately €310.000, while in Montenegro, Macedonian construction workers have managed to work on projects worth approximately €450.000.
