Sasho Ordanoski
Zaev made three major intrusions in redefining the recipes and the ratio of spices in the local party cuisine. Many party activists will not forgive him for all three interventions for a long time.
There were times when the “rule” of the currents and kitchens in the main Macedonian political parties was one of the necessary “insider” tools for a better understanding of domestic politics. In the first 10-15 years of democracy, in power and in the opposition sat mainly young leaders – with five or six influential exceptions, such as Gligorov and several other political and, especially, business “relics” from the communist era – so the dynamics and the calculations on the political scene, at least seemingly, took place on the front of ideas and ideologies. In the country (in fact, as in the whole post-communist world) the main word was given by party leaders / assailants and public intellectuals and academics mainly in their potent thirties and (considered “older”!) Forties.
For the rudder and the fender
But as political spears became publicly torn (and sharpened) between liberal and nationalist values, the fundamental process of redistributing the socialist into capitalist property took place in the background. It will “deeply” and in the long run determine the directions of the country’s development. The turbulent developments in politics and those related to the country’s security, such as the regional wars until the mid-2001s, the assassination of Gligorov, the military conflict in XNUMX and Trajkovski’s deaths, will “mask” and suppress it in the background (to the satisfaction of of business “barons”) redistribution of social, in private capital.
In those times, among other things, in order to understand the processes, it was instructed in the parties to know who is sleeping with whom, which UDBA / DBK is behind whom and whom the Americans (do not) support.
Then around the middle of the XNUMXs, the two principled figures of the Macedonian party confrontation – Crvenkovski and Georgievski – would slowly “fayout”, mainly engaged in their intra-party manipulations on how to leave the helm of the ship and maintain the direction of navigation. We know that history relatively well: Rada and Buchko did not manage to swim for a long time in the fat “paprika” of Branko, and Ljubco thought that, for the sake of the foreigners, he would make a “short break” with Grujo, so in a few years he renewed and rejuvenated to return with Snow White to power in their VMRO. Nothing from business.
Redistribution of redistribution
Thus began the Gruevski era, which will last for a decade. In VMRO, the kitchens were soon abolished, and a party canteen was introduced in which the daily menu was served exclusively by cousins - other party officials, arranged in a column with plastic trays in their hands, could choose only the salad with the main dish: pickles or beets. from preklan cans.
While that team was working on the new variant of the redistribution of capital – the previous ones from socialist to capitalist, these from capitalist to Gruevist – a “dark cloud” was given from Strumica that would disrupt the party “sunbathing” for everyone. They underestimated him properly, and then it was too late.
Well, we know that history too. And everyone has their own version of it, depending on how much they hate or love Zaev. The differences are like heaven and earth.
But, for me, the word is something else, which refers to the party kitchens, factions and pot mutations… Because, Zaev made two major intrusions in redefining the recipes and the ratio of spices in the local party cuisine.
Desacralization of the temple
The first intervention is the announcement of the “bombs”. Suddenly, the whole public got a direct insight into the secret rooms, bedrooms and business rooms of the Macedonian party policy of the government (of VMRO-DPMNE). On an audio tray, in details that even the best gossipers would not adorn, we learned the behind-the-scenes performances of the main actors on stage, in all character nuances and private subtleties, in dressing gowns and underwear, without gloves and evening make-up. What used to be half known only to well-informed party “Kremlinologists”, now the whole nation is fed up with offices, bars and family celebrations.
(Zaev was authorized for the selection of the offer, and some even today claim that the whole “appetizer” was not taken out on the table, so that the guests do not overeat, and so that something is left for later snacks of the waiters and the cook…)
There has been a kind of “desacralization” of the intra-party temples of power, of complicated property-legal interests and business influences, so thorough that it requires a whole new generation of actors to be able to reset. That is why the current second opposition echelons of the former first echelons of the government are still struggling to get out of the wardrobe of unquestioning obedience to the duo of cousins.
Party blasphemy
But Zaev’s second intervention is, structurally, even more deadly for the party kitchens than the first: at the peak of his power and success – and, perhaps, because of that! – the man personally decided, almost on the run, that the leader of the ruling SDSM be elected in intra-party general elections!
Aman! What a party blasphemy! What a dangerous blow to the well-developed “delegate system” of intra-party congressional election mathematics and mudslinging. Even “Dr. Etker “(Crvenkovski) at the local political oriental gastronomy was left speechless! The fact that Zaev won the first such elections by acclamation, even without an intra-party competitor, does not diminish the importance of this reform.
Well, the power brokers and the selectors in all party jerseys will never forgive Zaev for that. Because, if it can in SDSM, why not, and an hour sooner, namely in VMRO, DUI or, for example, in LDP and Right ?!
The “strawberry” of that “whipped cream” – the third major intervention – are Zaev’s unexpected resignations: so where it has been heard and seen, I beg you, someone to step down, I beg you, from the government over the party and the nation, I beg you, what did he gain democratically ?! Big deal, some lost local elections, no one in the democratic world is stepping down from the national throne because of that! Сите And for that all the analyzes have already been made.
A one-way ticket?
But, after Zaev’s resignation, now it is the turn of the second leadership election in SDSM according to the introduced voting scheme: whoever wants can apply, and the leader is elected by everyone, individually.
Zaev does not hide who his candidate trump card is: Dr. Dimitar Kovacevski. The “shadow” man is not accidental, although few know exactly why. We will find out soon in the next two weeks until the intra-party elections scheduled for December 12, the party and social “Kremlinologists” to explain his candidacy. It is instructive not to underestimate Kovacevski, as it was done with Gruevski and Zaev at the time.
But, in order to measure the real democratic capacity of SDSM, now is the time for everyone who thinks that they should run for the leadership position in the party to do so. Because, in politics, for those who see themselves in that profession in the long run, you do not always have to go for a “certain” victory – and the way you lose can be an investment in your future and current, successful career.
Aside from the fact that, after Zaev, the new leader of the ruling party will have to take democratic account of who and what does not agree with him / her. In order not to repeat the debacle in the local and the next parliamentary elections. Otherwise, they will be able to book that one-way ticket right now.
