The second annual Western Balkans Circular Economy Week is set to take place on 22-26 May 2023. With the overarching theme “Partnership 4 Circularity,” a series of concurrent activities will take place across several Western Balkan countries, involving a broad range of stakeholders and participants. The weeklong activities will kick off in Prishtina, Kosovo, with the opening conference organized by the Balkan Forum and the Universum International College.

This unique regional initiative by the LogEx Community – founded by the Balkan Forum – aims to revolutionize the Western Balkans’ approach to sustainable development by promoting and implementing circular economy practices. By bringing together a diverse range of actors, including academia, civil society organizations, media, businesses, and experts, the Circular Economy Week aims to foster collaboration and drive meaningful change in the region.

The Partnership 4 Circularity event is a significant milestone for the Western Balkans region. It continues to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing among diverse stakeholders. It is an additional opportunity to drive positive change and create a better tomorrow for the Western Balkans and beyond.

The weeklong activities are a platform to share and introduce innovative ideas, creative solutions, and sustainable practices that will shape the green future of the Western Balkans strongly rooted in a robust circular economy, with the ultimate goal of tackling unemployment and out-migration in the Western Balkans.

Green CIVIL, an organizational unit of CIVIL – Center for Freedom, will conduct a series of activities during the Circular Economy Week, including a conference “Visions for a green future: Partnership for circularity” on May 23, publishing and launching a publication with the same title, and an intensive media production. Green CIVIL’s media team produced two documentaries about successful businesses that include circular economy models in their work.

The LogEx Community, founded in December 2021, is a partnership committed to bridging the gap between higher education and the employment marketplace in the Western Balkans. By focusing on building human capital, strengthening the circular economy, and promoting sustainable development, LogEx Community aims to create a brighter future for the region.

Members of the LogEx Community: The Balkan Forum (WB), Build Green Group (Albania), CENER 21, COD Jajce (Bosnia and Herzegovina), CIVIL / Green CIVIL (North Macedonia), Universum International College (Kosovo), YIHR (Serbia), ADP-Zid (Montenegro).
