The third annual Western Balkans Circular Economy Week will take place from May 27 to 31, 2024. This year’s theme is “Sustainable Bridges: Unite, Uplift, Upcycle”.
Organizations from the countries of the Western Balkans, members of the LogEx community, will hold a series of parallel activities that will promote good practices and knowledge, as well as the challenges and perspectives of the circular economy in the region.
The regional initiative of the LogEx community – established by the Balkan Forum – aims to revolutionize the approach of the Western Balkans to sustainable development, by promoting circular economy practices. By bringing together different actors, including academia, civil society organizations, the media, business and experts, the Circular Economy Week aims to foster cooperation and encourage significant changes in the region.
This year again, CIVIL will implement a rich program during the Week of Circular Economy in the Western Balkans.
Starting Monday, May 27, CIVIL’s media platform will publish educational content related to the circular economy. It will also publish a series of interviews focusing on the prospects of this economic area of the future.
The preparation of an analysis on the topic “The circular economy in times of war and uncertainty” is underway.
CIVIL will conclude the week of action throughout the region on May 31 with a public event on the same topic, where the analysis will be presented, as well as the activities of the member organizations of the LogEx network throughout the region.
The main goal of CIVIL within the framework of the regional initiative is to contribute to strengthening public awareness of the importance and perspectives of the green, i.e. circular economy by identifying the challenges imposed by wars, conflicts and other crises such as the Russian aggression against Ukraine, the hybrid war against the West and the conflict in the Gaza Strip.
The LogEx community, established in December 2021, is a partnership dedicated to bridging the gap between higher education and the job market in the Western Balkans. By focusing on building human capital, strengthening the circular economy and fostering sustainable development, the LogEx community aims to create a brighter future for the region.
Members of the LogEx community: The Balkan Forum (ZB), Build Green Group (Albania), CENER 21 , COD Jajce (Bosnia and Herzegovina), CIVIL / Green CIVIL (North Macedonia), Universum International College (Kosovo).
