On Tuesday, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić is set discuss via video conference with the Prime Ministers of North Macedonia and Albania, Zoran Zaev and Edi Rama, ways to improve relations within the ‘Mini Schengen’ regional initiative, his office said in a press release, MIA reports from Belgrade.
At a press conference on June 24, Vučić expressed expectations that final decisions regarding joint action against natural disasters, as well as rapid movement of goods, people and capital will be made at the meeting.
“The system of work permits will allow permit holders to work in any of the three countries, which is especially important for Serbia and will ensure we get the workforce we lack,” Vučić said previously.
In regard to relations in the region, four days ago he told reporters that cooperation with North Macedonia and Albania will continue to improve.
“I’m sorry Albania and North Macedonia didn’t get a date to start negotiations, which is unfair,” the Serbian President noted.
The ‘Mini Schengen’ initiative currently includes Serbia, Albania and North Macedonia. It was launched in Novi Sad in 2019 as a project for improving the economy and regional cooperation.
The three Western Balkan countries aim to create a common market to speed up economic development.
