Actress Nesrin Tair in a video message for the United for Diversity Initiative:
I grew up in a cosmopolitan spirit, my parents raised me that we are all equal in the world and that we should unite in diversity. My life experience so far tells me that in general, nationalism comes from the fact that we do not know the differences of the other nation. So, we do not know how to value the different characteristics that the other nation has, and at the same time we have no desire to get to know the cultural and traditional values of the other nation. Given that each individual, in itself and each nation can grow and develop infinitely culturally, intellectually and spiritually and socially.
We will ultimately have to unite in diversity, because only then will we be able to move on.
Nationalism is very harmful, both for one society and for each individual, because the awakened national consciousness blinds us and prevents us from being able to perceive and value the cultural and traditional values of the other nation.
A Turkish author, both a musician and a poet, as well as a political activist, says that “Beauty will save the world, and everything will begin with love for man.” I am ready to unite in diversity as a philanthropist, and I think that in our republic in our country there are many philanthropists, and that we are ready to unite all in diversity.
