The UNESCO headquarters in Paris will hold a celebration in honor of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Blazhe Koneski, the great Macedonian poet and scholar who codified the contemporary Macedonian language.
Placed on UNESCO’s calendar of important international anniversaries, the event will be streamed live at this link. Minister of Culture Irena Stefoska and President Stevo Pendarovski will address the attendees via video.
According to the Ministry of Culture, the winner of this year’s Struga Poetry Evenings Golden Wreath award will be announced at the event, which will also mark World Poetry Day, March 21.
The winner of the Bridges of Struga prize for a best debut poetry book, awarded with the support of UNESCO, will also be announced.
The celebration is part of the programming for “2021, Year in Honor of Blazhe Koneski,” supported by President Pendarovski, the Ministry of Culture, and the Ministry of Education and Science.
