The translation activity is developing actively, in particular, in 2021 alone, the book “1000 interesting facts about Ukraine” was translated into Macedonian and published, as well as the works of the contemporary young Ukraine writers – the novels “Your glance, Cio-Cio San” by Andriy Lyubka, “The Winter King” by Ostap Slyvynsky, “Mozart 2.0” by Dorje Batuu and “Felix Austria” by Sofia Andrukhovych, says in an interview Ukraine Ambassador to the Republic of North Macedonia Natalia Zadorzhnyuk.
“The translation activity is developing actively, in particular, in 2021 alone, the book “1000 interesting facts about Ukraine” was translated into Macedonian and published, as well as the works of the contemporary young Ukraine writers – the novels “Your glance, Cio-Cio San” by Andriy Lyubka, “The Winter King” by Ostap Slyvynsky, “Mozart 2.0” by Dorje Batuu and “Felix Austria” by Sofia Andrukhovych. At the same time, I would like to take the opportunity to sincerely thank Ukraine’s sincere friends, the famous translators and writers Vera Chornij-Meshkova and Igor Stojanoski for their hard work and active cooperation with our Embassy”.
In the interview, the Ambassador highlighted that we have very good cooperation in the area of culture. Specifically, just in the past year, despite the restrictions due to Covid-18, a series of interesting joint projects were realized.

Among them are the film festival of the famous Ukrainian film director Oleksandr Dovzhenko in the ‘Cinematheque of North Macedonia’, the participation of Ukraine contemporary film directors at the International Film Festival “MakeDox” in the ancient Kurshumli An, the exhibitions of works of Ukraine artists living in North Macedonia, as well as the launching of the first audio guide in Ukrainian at the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle in Skopje”.
The Ambassador said that they intend to hold more such interesting events, including film festivals, exhibitions, presentations of the Ukrainian cuisine, joint scientific conferences and similar. She is sure that they will be interesting and will present the rich Ukrainian culture.
“In 2022, if the situation with Covid allows us, we are planning a festival of Ukrainian documentary and feature films, among which we plan to show several films on events in the Donbas war zone, creative nights (presentation of books and translations of our famous contemporary writers), Days of the Ukraine culture and exhibitions of Ukrainian artists, as well as a tour of the Kiev Academic Regional Music and Drama Theater ‘P.K Saksagansky’ and the Art Association ‘Talents of the 21st Century’ and much more”.
Zadorzhnyuk emphasized that these and many other events that the Embassy is organizing together with the Macedonian side, allows them to boldly say that Ukraine is becoming ever more present in North Macedonia.
