On January 25, on their blog, Twitter announced that they were introducing a new pilot (anti-misinformation) feature called “Birdwatch”. This option will allow Twitter users to identify information they consider to be misinformation and leave a note with an informative context.

A statement from Twitter said that they wanted to make this option as transparent as possible by making all the data that will be contributed to Birdwatch publicly available, as well as publicly disclosing the code and algorithms behind this option.

For now, this option will only be available to test users in the United States, with plans to expand into the global Twitter community.
