Turkey, Sweden and Finland signed Tuesday a memorandum paving the way for Sweden and Finland’s NATO membership, Anadolu Agency reports. The memorandum was signed by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and his Finnish and Swedish counterparts, Pekka Haavisto and Ann Linde, writes MIA.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Finnish President Sauli Niinistö and Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson also attended the signing ceremony.
The memorandum was signed at the IFEMA conference center in Madrid, where meetings were held as part of the NATO Summit. Details of the memorandum have not been published yet.
