Public call by: XHABIR DERALLA
I publically call on the investigating authorities, the MOI, Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office and other relevant institutions, the state commissions for protection against discrimination and prevention of corruption, the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Fight Against Corruption and Crime, Sustainable Development and Human Resources, as well as the management and appropriate disciplinary commissions in the institutions, public enterprises and institutes (as much as each is responsible) to take decisive steps for sanctioning all individuals who abuse their work in the public administration in various ways for creating and distributing fake news, disinformation and hate speech.
First off, I call on them to take urgent steps for complying to the Code of Ethics that the government has adopted and which all public sector employees are obliged to comply to – starting from the Prime Minister and ministers and up to the last employee in the administration. At the same time, they need to also refer to the Law on Prevention of Corruption and Conflict of Interest and to apply it. At least that isn’t difficult, they are easy reading texts, while the consequences of the measures anticipated with these legal documents are mild, incomparable to the consequences of the actions of those for which I am talking about here.
Not much effort is needed to discover the individuals and groups who, hidden behind their workplaces in the administration (some of them at senior and responsible positions), contrary to the laws, professional standards and ethics, engage in spreading insults, slander, fake news and hate speech on a daily basis. It can easily be determined whether they do this during working hours, using official resources for their activities. It can also be easily determined whether and how much they abuse personal data of the people they attack with their devised operations for discrediting and fierce insults and slanders on the social networks and in the media.
Just one of the many examples: the Directorate for Personal Data Protection at one time (barely) adopted a decision to protect the personal data from my ID card that was published in certain media and social profiles, with messages full of hatred and calls for execution. The decision was not carried out and that was that. Instead, administration workers (and even police officers) continue with an anonymous campaign against journalists, editors, media and civil society organizations. This is just a small example, really. I’m using it to give an easy and obvious illustration, supported by an official document that is available in the archives of the mentioned directorate.
This call certainly can also be extended to persons in senior management positions in the administration or are under the Army uniform, who openly and publically act against the institutions or individuals. I also have personal examples for this, it can easily be checked by browsing through my previous articles. Here, just so that he doesn’t feel forgotten, among them is also a president of the Criminal Court. But today I will concentrate “only” on those acting anonymously, hidden behind their desks or uniforms, set by the state, paid by the citizens.
It has been no secret for a long time that people who work in the Macedonian police are at the same time engaging in black propaganda and in destroying the reputation and dignity of the institutions where they work, but also with slander, insults and hate speech against human rights activists, journalists and intellectuals. Is it difficult, for example, for the Internal Control of the MOI to identify such persons among its own ranks?
They are known, even by name and last name, people who administrate Facebook profiles, and even websites, or are part of the “creative” teams of those nests of lies and hatred. Certainly, MPs, party officials, their friends and members of the close family participate in that “creativeness”
In addition to the MOI, such individuals and organized groups can also be found among employees in the defence, education system, healthcare, public enterprises and institutions, the public media service, state agencies, regulatory bodies and in other parts of the administration at the local and national level.
Employees of budgetary institutions and institutes have an obligation to care for the safety and well-being of the citizens and not to abuse their workplaces for dirty political face-offs with the not like-minded of the centers of power they serve for well-known reasons and motives.
Therefore, I call on the relevant institutions to do nothing else but to fulfil their legal obligation, to put an end to this extremely irresponsible behaviour of those who spread black propaganda, lie and slander, and at the same time live off the backs of citizens. It would be reasonable for them to resign or to be dismissed.
It’s clear to me that this call will now be a subject of counterattack with even more hate speech, insults and slander, in conjunction with the “Oliveri” media, but I honestly hope that the institutions will finally start doing their job. Not because of me, but because of the public interest to which they are committed to work.
The dancing party is much bigger, it’s well organized and has a high budget. And it’s not just about the fake news and hate speech, but also about the security. If the streets know this, the institutions have to know this much better.
3,2,1…
Take a deep breath and start working. Before it’s late.
