The chaos in the Voters Register, the phantoms, and the reactions from the citizens just do not stop.
This time a citizen from the Municipality of Aerodrom reported to CIVIL that the phantoms from her address that had been duly reported and deleted from the Voters Register during the parliamentary elections in December 2016, have returned to her address.
“I checked in the Voters Register and these people figure again on my address. These people that have never lived at this address were also reported in the State Election Commission and in the MOI back in 2016, after which they were removed from my address. Now again they have returned. I ask myself how many times do I have to finish the work of the institutions?”, says the revolted citizen.
This reported case is not the only one. These days, CIVIL has been receiving dozens of reports on already deleted phantoms that are returning to the old addresses. And while citizens are called on to do the work of the SEC and the MOI, both of the institutions are once again transferring the responsibility one to another.
We call on the State Election Commission, as well as the municipal election boards, to act upon the reports of the citizens, having in consideration that CIVIL is receiving numerous complaints from citizens who have already reported inconsistencies in the Voters Register and that no concrete steps have been taken upon these reports.
CIVIL – Center for Freedom is calling on the citizens to help in the revision of the Voters Register and to report irregularities, even though that is not their job. Public inspection into the Voters Register last until August 23.
