Acting on the proposal of the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Corruption, nine suspects were brought before a pre-trial judge today, part for the crime of smuggling, and part for unauthorized production and distribution of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors.
– After the statement of the competent public prosecutor and the suspects in the presence of their defense counsel regarding the proposal, a pre-trial judge passed decisions accepting the proposal and ordered detention of eight of the suspects for 30 days, while one of the suspects He was remanded in custody for eight days, given that a motion was filed against him in summary proceedings, the Basic Criminal Court in Skopje announced tonight.
According to the decisions for imposing a measure of detention, the statement states, the court considered that the conditions of Art. 165 paragraph 1 item 1. 2. and 3. of the LCP, ie that the suspects are in danger of fleeing, have the opportunity to influence the witnesses or to obstruct the investigation and are in danger of repeating the crime.
Against these decisions, the parties have the right to appeal before the Criminal Council of the Basic Criminal Court Skopje.
