President Stevo Pendarovski met Tuesday with Swedish Ambassador Kristin Forsgren Bengtsson, who informed him about the Kingdom of Sweden’s decision to apply for NATO membership, informs MIA.
According to an official press release, President Pendarovski welcomed the Swedish decision, saying it was made by a sovereign state that had every right to do so.
He also said North Macedonia was supportive of NATO’s open door policy. Pendarovski and Forsgren Bengtsson discussed the pace of the NATO accession process, with the head of state pointing out that Sweden’s full NATO membership would further strengthen the already excellent bilateral relations, the release says.
