Disinformation, as false, unchecked or inaccurate information is flooding the media space, but also the social networks. The placement of disinformation, although it can be unintentional, still has a certain purpose to harm, to play with the emotions of those perceiving it, to defocus.
CIVIL Media spoke with the citizens in Skopje, who, in terms of the question what is disinformation, say disappointedly and mockingly that it is the only thing we have here, we are bombarded with it, we need to be reserved about everything we read or hear.
“Disinformation is when you give wrong information, and then needs to be checked. Sometimes it is denied, sometimes not”, says a citizen.
“What is disinformation? Well, here we only have disinformation. Lately, there has been a lot of disinformation, somehow everything goes with a lie and disinformation”, say some of the respondents.
“Any inaccurate information is disinformation and nowadays, on the internet, we really are bombarded with disinformation. That is why we need to take information coming to us with a dose of reserve”, explains a citizen.
Disinformation, as part of the daily discourse, prevails in the media, as the biggest informers of the citizens, and the assessment, according to CIVIL’s survey, shows that there is awareness among people and a need to fight against disinformation.
