Participants to the “Speak Up” project of artists for human rights and solidarity, and members and supporters of Civil strongly condemn capriciousness, vandalism and destruction committed by the authorities
The SK2014 project and other “renaissance” actions must stop. Government’s capriciousness and unscrupulousness are destroying the aesthetic, ethical and cultural values.
Enormous damages are being inflicted onto the citizens of the Republic of Macedonia, both financially and morally. Our country, our common homeland became the subject of ridicule, and often of contempt. If ever, we were more or less anonymous, we are now known for the kitsch and the capriciousness of a group of people protected by the police, courts and obedient media.
Ignorance, arrogance and violence go hand in hand. The spirit of urban life disappears under the invasion of absurd actions of the government, and the voice of citizens suppressed with truncheons and media manipulation. What looked like a symptom a year ago has now grown into a serious illness generated in the laboratory of the strongmen.
We, the participants to the “Speak Up” project of artists for human rights and solidarity, and members and supporters of Civil – Center for Freedom strongly condemn capriciousness, vandalism and destruction committed by the authorities.
We appeal to all people of conscience, consciousness and sense of beauty, regardless of political affiliation, to contribute to discontinuation of this and such behavior of the authorities in Macedonia. Overcome personal and party differences and see the chaos and consequences that generations to come will bear.
Speak up.
