“When we established the concept “The police serving the citizens”, as the leadership of the MoI, we started from the principle that deepening the partnership between the citizens and police officers would produce more effective results for the safety and security, in maintaining the public order and peace, and in the protection of material goods”, stated Minister of Interior Oliver Spasovski at CIVIL’s panel “Security and reforms in the police”.
“Initially, radical and systematic reforms in the police were anticipated, which were to increase its credibility among citizens. At the strategic kevel, the reform of the security system was not a matter of choice, but of survival, a strongly expressed will of all social participants, the public, the citizens, to finally establish norms and a concept that will also be a guarantee for the protection of human rights and freedoms, but at the same time also a strong barrier against any tendencies of corrupting the security, and against putting it in function of abuse and unlawful work”, pointed out Spasovski.
