President Stevo Pendarovski, who is taking part Monday in the Brdo-Brijuni Process leaders’ meeting at Brdo pri Kranju, held separate meetings with Slovenian and Croatian Presidents Borut Pahor and Zoran Milanović.
During the meeting with Slovenian President Pahor, President Pendarovski said that the North Macedonia strongly values Slovenia’s commitment and support for the EU enlargement policy towards the Western Balkans, as well as the announcement that it will be among the top priorities in the agenda of the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2021, Pendarovski’s Office said in a press release.
Pendarovski noted that that North Macedonia is prepared for holding of the first intergovernmental conference aimed at starting negotiation process with EU. North Macedonia, Pendarovski underlined, remains committed to fulfilling its foreign policy goal – full membership in the EU, which will enable accelerated implementation of reforms in the country.
The two presidents also discussed the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as dealing with its challenges.
At the meeting with the Croatian President Zoran Milanović, in Brdo pri Kranj, Pendarovski thanked him for the strong and continuous support for the European aspirations of our country, reaffirmed and confirmed during the six-month Croatian presidency of the Council of the EU.
During the talks they stressed that the accession of Western Balkan countries in the EU will contribute to the permanent stabilization of the region, as well as its prosperity.
They shared views on the current situation in both countries, in the context of dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the tackling the economic, health and social impact of the COVID-19 crisis.
During the meeting, they agreed President Pendarovski to visit the Republic of Croatia and to continue the high-level dialogue between the two countries.
