Slovak Ambassador Henrik Markus and Czech Deputy Head of Mission Lubomir Psenka said Tuesday in a joint statement there is no entity in North Macedonia that affected Bratislava and Prague’s decision to block the EU Council draft-conclusions on enlargement.
“Unfortunately, certain entities in the Republic of North Macedonia have started to spread false information about their influence on the decision-making process in Prague and Bratislava, related to the processes within the European Union,” reads the joint statement.
The Czech Republic and Slovakia have clearly communicated the circumstances that prevented them from agreeing on the draft-Council conclusions. This was done especially through the joint statement by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic.
“Neither the Czech nor the Slovak diplomacy are aware of any entity lobbying efforts that could have influenced the decision-making processes in Prague and Bratislava. If there were any, these activities did not reach the relevant actors, decision-makers in Czechia and Slovakia. The decisions by ministers Petricek and Korcok were made without any influence coming from an entity in North Macedonia,” reads the statement.
