The Skopje Public Prosecutor’s Office filed Friday an indictment against seven protesters who took part in last week’s protest against the verdicts handed down in the ‘Monster’ trial.
The court has already ordered detention for six men, the public prosecution said Friday.
All seven men are charged with participating in a violent mob. Alongside the indictment, the Skopje prosecutors have also proposed that their detention should be extended so as to secure their presence during the investigation.
Indictment was filed against the seven men because on February 26 during the protest they were part of a crowd that acted together to attack police and others present at the protest. The men charged, as well as other unidentified individuals, had started hurling rocks, stones, metal rods and other items while trying to break the police cordon. As a result, a reporter covering the protest was injured as well as 11 police officers.
