There’s no need for new recommendations or imposing new restrictions for the time being, the Ministry of Health told MIA.
The Ministry pointed out they are monitoring the epidemiological situation in the country and the region.
The Commission for Infectious Diseases was to decide Monday on introducing restrictions at borders against the spread of the Delta variant of the coronavirus, which has spread across Europe.
Health Minister Venko Filipche told Slobodna TV’s Morning Briefing show on Monday that the situation is very calm, there’s no sign of a possible deterioration of the epidemic, and for several days now there’s no pressure on hospitals.
“There’s no influx of patients in hospitals, which indicates and confirms that the situation is quite calm. We’re also monitoring the situation in the neighboring countries. It’s calm everywhere in the region. We’re also monitoring the situation in the countries where our citizens go for summer vacation. There’s a slight increase in the number of confirmed cases in Greece, but I believe it’s not alarming. Therefore, if this situation continues into the summer, there’s no need for introducing any restrictions. However, we’re closely monitoring the situation. There are countries where the Indian coronavirus strain is spreading faster. For now, there’s no need for new restrictions, but we’re prepared if the need arises,” said Filipche.
