“Patriotism is loyalty towards your own country, while nationalism creates hatred among the people. I don’t see them as positive, they can cause drastic changes that will not bring us any good. Nationalism is a tool that some people use to reach their goals. There’s nationalism on both sides, both in the Macedonian and Albanian bloc”, stated Ajdin Sherifi, from Cair, for CIVIL Media.
Ajdin believes that the time of nationalism and patriotism is already ending.
“People are looking at ways to develop tourism on Mars, while we are still dealing with patriotism and nationalism, which will cost us a lot”, says Ajdin.
He hopes that at least the referendum will be carried out as it should be, and that it will contribute for things to finally pick up.
“Unfortunately, in the Macedonian bloc I see nationalism flourishing, but I think that after the referendum things will change for the better”, hopes Sherifi.
