Defense Minister Radmila Shekerinska said Sunday that messages coming from outside say North Macedonia and Bulgaria are required to put an end to mistrust and hostility, and invest in policies that do not focus on the past but ensure European values now and today.
Minister Shekerinska was quizzed by reporters in Shtip over the activity of the working groups led by the countries’ foreign ministers, as well as the content of the possible roadmap to the Friendship Treaty.
“This is not a task of the entire Government and none of us should improvise amid such a sensitive moment about a sensitive issue,” said Shekerinska.
She added that messages coming from all capitals are rather clear.
“What is clear today are the messages coming from all capitals and countries that wish the Balkans well – Germany and the United States. Today’s letter by the former U.S. Ambassador to Skopje and currently Assistant Secretary of State Philip Reeker, made it clear that North Macedonia and Bulgaria are required to put an end to mistrust and hostility, and invest in policies that do not focus on the past but ensure European values now and today. Not only in the European Union but also on the Balkans, which aspires to become its member,” said Shekerinska.
