Defense Minister Radmila Shekerinska and Norwegian counterpart Frank Bakke-Jensen reaffirmed excellent bilateral relations in the defense sector during a meeting ahead of the NATO Summit in Brussels on Monday.
“The Kingdom of Norway has shown on numerous occasions it is our true friend and ally. The training of the Macedonian medical team in Norway and its deployment in the Afghanistan mission to work in the Kabul-based Norwegian hospital is an example of allied cooperation and development of collective security. By 2028, North Macedonia is set to develop capabilities in the form of a surgical team at NATO’s disposal. The experience and knowledge that the Macedonian military medical team gained from their Norwegian colleague is invaluable, said Minister Shekerinska.
The military medical team in Afghanistan, Norway’s continued support during the pandemic and assistance in building integrity and development of a Public Affairs Regional Centre as a certified NATO center are only a few examples that demonstrate how Alliance unity is strengthened in action, agreed Shekerinska and Bakke-Jensen, the Ministry of Defense said in a press release.
