Adopting the Law on the Prevention and Protection Against Discrimination is of great importance to citizens, Minister of Labor and Social Policy Jagoda Shahpaska wrote after the law passed in Parliament with 70 votes in favor.
In a post on her Facebook profile, Minister Shahpaska said the law defines the kinds of discrimination, including on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity, in line with international standards and European legislation.
The law also regulates the work of the Committee for the Prevention and Protection Against Discrimination, which should act independently and consist of professionals with experience in human rights, equality and non-discrimination.
