The children admitted for treatment in the largest Bulgarian hospital Pirogov, after Sunday’s road accident with the Serbian bus, are still in serious condition, director of Sofia’s emergency hospital Valentin Dimitrov told reporters on Tuesday, transmits MIA.
The injured are being treated at the intensive care unit, MIA’s Sofia correspondent reports. Dimitrov added that their injuries are not life-threatening.
A child who underwent a long surgery spent yesterday night relatively peacefully. This morning medical staff are set for two more surgeries needed to improve the child’s condition.
All Pirogov hospital teams are in readiness. He added that his colleagues have the full support of Bulgaria’s Ministry of Health.
Serbian Ambassador to Bulgaria, Željko Jović, thanked Bulgarian authorities for their support in rescuing the children after the accident on the Trakia highway on Sunday.
In an interview with BNT and another one with bTV, Jović pointed out that the Bulgarian rescue and medical teams were very professional.
He added that Serbia will also conduct an investigation after the investigation by the Bulgarian authorities is completed.
