(SELECTION) Albanian media: The McGonigal scandal is shaking US Congress; Kurti – Vucic meeting today in Brussels; new chances for the Western Balkans

The scandal with the former head of the CIA, McGonigal, has caused a “clash” between US Congress and the government, which according to prestigious media outlet Bloomberg, there is a real possibility for the head of the Department of Justice to be dismissed. In Brussels, a meeting between Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has been announced for today, at which, according to the media, a start to a resolution for an agreement between the two countries is expected.

These are just some of the topics from today’s selection of the Editorial Office of CIVIL Media from Albanian media in the region.

SYRI – Bloomberg: The head of the US Department of Justice could be dismissed (McGonigal affair)

“The Rama-McGonigal scandal is shaking US politics.

Big American media outlet Bloomberg writes that this issue has caused a fierce clash between the US Congress and the government.

The person leading the battle from Congress is Republican Congressman Jim Jordan, Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee.

On the other side is Merrick Garland, Head of the Department of Justice and Attorney General of the United States”, reports Albanian daily Syri.

PRESSONLINE: Meeting Kurti – Vucic today in Brussels

“Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic will meet in Brussels on Monday afternoon, within the framework of the dialogue for normalization of relations, with the mediation of the European Union.

First, top EU diplomat Josep Borrell will have separate meetings with the two leaders, accompanied by Special Representative of the European Union for this process, Miroslav Lajcak.

Later there will be a joint meeting between Kurti and Vucic”, reports Kosovo daily Pressonline.

DW – Manuel Sarrazin: New chances for the Western Balkans

Southeast Europe expert Manuel Sarrazin, Special Representative of the German Government for the countries of the Western Balkans, sees the presented plan as a chance for the two countries. “The European proposal based on the German and French initiative is able to solve a large part of the problems between the two countries. It will pave the way for regional integration in the EU”, says Sarrazin, reports DW.

KOHA –State Department: The proposal from the EU, an opportunity for the people of Kosovo and Serbia
“The US State Department told Radio Free Europe on Monday that the proposal of the European Union for normalization of the relations between Kosovo and Serbia is an opportunity for the peoples of the two countries to increase the security and stability of the Western Balkans”, reports Kosovo daily Koha.

TELEGRAFI: Albania with the highest oil price in the world

“Albania is a country with the highest price in the world not only of oil but also of gasoline, according to a survey by Reddit (American social news aggregation, web content rating and discussion website), in which it is said that Albania leads worldwide with 26.59 percent” reports Albanian media outlet Telegrafi.

KOHA: The difference between civilized societies and Serbia, which praises war criminals

“Authorities in Ljubljana and Zagreb are correcting some mistakes that were made during the Serbian aggression in the 90s. In Serbia, on the other hand, it is not allowed to put up even a commemorative sign for the almost 800 dead bodies of Albanians thrown in a mass grave in Batajnica near Belgrade. This is where the difference lies between civilized societies and the Serbian society that continues to deny crimes”, an excerpt of the column “The difference between civilized societies and Serbia, which praises war criminals”, by author Enver Robelli, published in the Kosovo daily Koha.
