(SELECTION) Albanian media: Opposition protests in Tirana continue, US Embassy in Albania warns its citizens, new details from the McGonigal file
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The protests of the opposition continue in Albania, while the police is taking additional security measures around the Albanian Parliament. The US Embassy warns its citizens in Tirana through a statement regarding security during the protests, and the McGonigal file expands with new details. These are some of the topics of CIVIL Media’s Editorial Office selection from Albanian media in the region.

TOP CHANNEL: Opposition announces protests again, Parliament building armored

“At the same time as the plenary session today at 5.00 pm, the protest of the opposition that is called by former Prime Minister Sali Berisha is also expected to start.

While the Socialists will be inside at a plenary session, the Democrats who support Sali Berisha will be outside protesting” reported the Albanian media outlet Top Channel.

BALKAN WEB- Opposition protests: US Embassy in Albania warns US citizens in Tirana

“The US Embassy in Albania has distributed a message to US citizens in Tirana about the protest that has been called by the opposition and that will be held several hours later.

The Embassy published information on the location of the protest, the roads that will be blocked, the schedule and contacts for help in case of an incident”, reported BalkanWeb.

PANORAMA: Following McGonigal, other former FBI agents have come to Albania

“According to US media, McGonigal together with Agron Neza bought 25 percent of shares in a law office in the country.

This law office was in co-ownership with another former FBI agent, Mark Rossini, who was found guilty in 2007 for hacking into FBI files and receiving information about his ex-girlfriend’s accounts”, reports Albanian daily Panorama.

BOTA SOT – Kurti: There is no guarantee that even after the recognition, Serbia will not continue with destructiveness

“We must strengthen our country despite Serbia’s destructive attitude. There is no guarantee that even after mutual recognition, Serbia will not continue to be destructive towards us. It means that we must build state immunity against the destructiveness of official Belgrade”, said among other things Kosovo Prime Minister Kurti during yesterday’s parliamentary session where the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia was being discussed”, reported Kosovo daily Bota Sot.

GAZETA EXPRESS: The EU appeals to Serbia and Kosovo: We are not a “party”, but a facilitator, implement the energy agreement immediately

“The European Union has called on Kosovo and Serbia to immediately start the implementation of the agreement on electricity, reached in June last year. EU spokesperson Peter Stano told RTV21 that the responsibility for the implementation of the agreement is on both parties and that the EU is not a party in the dialogue, but facilitates the agreements, including the energy roadmap”, reported Kosovo daily Gazeta Express.

EPOKA E RE: The three Albanian political currents in Kosovo after World War II and the lessons we can learn from them

“Efforts for political-cultural progress and freeing of Kosovo (after World War II) are mainly characterized by the influence of three political currents, revolutionaries, institutionalists and academics. This typological division doesn’t mean that these three political currents didn’t have other characteristics that distinguish them”, an excerpt from the column “The three Albanian political currents in Kosovo after World War II and the lessons we can learn from them”, by author Fatmir Lekaj, published in the Kosovo media outlet Epoka e Re.
