SEC members today unanimously decided to put the new website of the State Election Commission into function starting from tomorrow. It is part of the project for support to the electoral reforms of the Swiss Embassy, more specifically, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
– The new website will have a simpler display of the content. The design is simple and easily accessible, which will enable quick and simple access to all those interested in the election process. An interesting novelty that we are introducing for the first time is the calendar of activities, where our obligations in accordance to the schedule for conducting the 2021 local elections will be placed on each date. What is especially important for this website is that it will also be adapted for voters with disabilities, specifically, the website will have additional access tools that will facilitate access and viewing of the content for these persons, said SEC member Boban Stojanoski.
SEC Vice President Ditmire Shehu, in her speech regarding the need of adopting the Action Plan on the ICT Strategy of the SEC for the period 2021-2024, outlined that the establishment of a coordinating body for the ICT Strategy and security measures are most important.
– The tasks of this coordinating body are organization of inter-institutional communication, joint assessment of risks and possible risk scenarios, coordination of communication with the public and providing information for voters, creating a mechanism for prevention and response based on recognized risks, provision of an independent audit of the implementation of security measures by the SEC and implementation of joint exercises, said Shehu.
Representatives of the Ministry of Interior, from the Sector for cyber-crime, representatives of the Agency for protection of personal data, a representative from the Internet service, the head of the IT sector in the SEC, SEC representative from public relations, representatives from the faculties for computer science and an independent expert from the field are proposed to be included, added Shehu.
At the session, the SEC also adopted the draft decision for allocating funds to Municipal Election Commissions for conducting elections for members of the Municipal Councils, the Council of the City of Skopje and for mayors of the municipalities and Mayor of the City of Skopje on October 17 this year.
The total amount that will be allocated to the Municipal Election Commissions is 2.335.000 denars, while for protection against Covid-19, the SEC will allocate funds in the amount of 585.000 denars.
