Tonight, at a press conference, the President of the State Election Commission, Aleksandar Dashtevski, announced that from the data that has been processed so far, 34 municipalities have received mayors in the first round. In 22 municipalities, the new mayors are candidates from VMRO-DPMNE, in nine municipalities candidates from SDSM won, whereas in three municipalities, DUI candidates won the most votes.
In most of the municipalities, candidates from SDSM and from VMRO-DPMNE will go through to the second round, while in seven municipalities candidates from the Alliance for Albanians and DUI will go through to the second round. In two municipalities, candidates from DUI and BESA will confront each other in the second round.
In two municipalities – Centar Zhupa and Mavrovo i Rostushe, due to non-fulfilment of the legal requirement for 1/3 of the registered voters to vote, the entire election procedure according to Article 132 paragraph 2 of the Electoral Code will be repeated, announced Dashtevski.
He also informed that so far the SEC has not received complaints.
