Petrit Saracini at the panel discussion “Pandemic and Infodemic” organized by CIVIL said that certain research from the United States shows that citizens are more informed by social networks than by commercial media, and the same thing is happening everywhere in the world, including us.
Saracini added that social networks are often “the stand” where false information is served.
“In April and May, it happened that every day we had 2-3 misinformation, not as one product but an orchestrated sharing of fake news and misinformation. We had over 100 examples at the height of the pandemic, when we had restrictive measures, when everyone was at home, following this information and being victims of it. They do not just consume it, they often act on it.”
