With financial support from the European Union, through the “EU for Youth” project, the building and student dormitory of the Regional Center for Vocational Education and Training “Vancho Pitosheski” in Ohrid have been completely reconstructed. The investment, worth approximately 1.7 million euros, enabled students and teachers to benefit from modern, safe, and energy-efficient conditions for learning and accommodation.
The reconstruction and rehabilitation included a series of construction and infrastructure interventions:
- Renovation of 2,313 m² of roofing
- Renewal of 1,732 m² of flooring
- 5,512 m² of painting and decorating work completed
- Installation of 2,941 m² of new ceilings
- Renewal of 4,994 m² of façade
- Landscaping of 3,489 m² of outdoor space
- Installation of 24 solar panels
- New exterior lighting: 34 large and 84 small lamp posts
- Installation of 379 m of sewage and 330 m of stormwater drainage
- Installation of 296 new doors and windows
- Installation of 530 insulation panels
Additionally, the space was upgraded with new heating systems, new water supply and electrical networks, as well as a modern computer network and fire protection system.
At the ceremony held on 13 June 2025, speakers included representatives from the Delegation of the European Union, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Municipality of Ohrid, the “EU for Youth” project team, and the school management. They congratulated all teams involved in the reconstruction and emphasized that students and staff are now receiving a functional, modern, and energy-efficient facility that contributes to the quality training of professionals and the development of the local and regional economy, especially in the fields of tourism and hospitality.
The facilities are now fully equipped to accommodate over 1,000 students, with conditions comparable to the standards in European Union member states.
